Why I’m doing this . . .

A few months ago, my extended family started a Yahoo group. We are a somewhat diverse crowd, so to keep things absolutely civil, we made a rule that religion and politics were off limits. Actually it was my rule, and I rather regret the “no religion” part. No one can possibly know or understand me or my perspective without some exposure to my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

So I’m starting my first, and probably my only blog. I still intend to stay away from politics here. Though I do have strong political opinions, I can express those elsewhere. This is more of a journal, where I can freely express what makes me tick, and maybe even find out what makes you tick.

This is for personal expression, reasoned discussion, challenging (but civil) debate, philosophical wool-gathering and maybe off-beat (but clean) humor.

Join me, but be advised that I will tolerate no flames, no personal attacks of any kind, no biting sarcasm, and no ridicule of anyone’s religion, perspective or world-view. Be civil, be kind, but don’t be condescending.

One other thing. I’m really not up for crossing swords with atheists who want to challenge my theism. There’s a place for that, but not here. That doesn’t mean we can’t challenge each other, nor does it mean that we can’t disagree. However, I’m not interested in verbal combat. Discussion, yes. Combat, no.

A final point is that if you choose to participate, I reserve the right to edit out anything that seems to me to be inappropriate, or even to delete inappropriate entries. I probably will seldom, if ever do that, but I reserve the right.

So welcome! I’m looking forward to this. It should be fun.
